Now: Tokyo/Seoul bureau chief for The Washington Post, covering Japan, the Koreas and Northeast Asia regional issues. My coverage includes foreign and defense policy, regional security, domestic politics, climate and environment, social issues, and major breaking news events. Follow my coverage on my author page.

Previously: Reporter on The Post's national political enterprise and accountability team, covering money and influence in politics, campaign finance, voting access, ethics in government and more. Before that, I was a reporter on The Post's Fact Checker, with a focus on the 2016 campaign, the White House and Congress.

I started my career at The Arizona Republic in Phoenix, Ariz., as a government accountability reporter covering public money, regulatory loopholes and politics at Maricopa County and the state legislature.

Outside the newsroom: Former two-term national president (2019-2022) & lifelong supporter of Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA). Member of the Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan and Seoul Foreign Correspondents Club. Human to two cats.

When I'm not working: I'm at a pottery studio, planning my next trip, exploring new restaurants or daydreaming about the beaches at home in Guam.
